You want to be a writer someday. You plan to be a writer someday. Let me ask you something, do you write? If not, how is this going to happen? Are you going to hire someone else to write the words for you? Don’t laugh, I have people tell me all the time that they have a great idea they want someone else to write, but they expect to get paid for the thought. Sure, like there are a bunch of writers sitting around waiting to pay you for the privilege of writing your thoughts. Not exactly…
If you want to be a writer, you have to write. This is one of those truths so simple you would think everybody gets it by now, but still I find people who want to become writers without writing. It doesn’t work that way. Writers write. Writers want to write. I know there are people who don’t want to write, but want to pay other people to make them feel like writers, I don’t know what they are. But writers write.
And yes, once they are famous, some writers hire other people to do their writing for them. But unless you are starting out famous, you have to write your way up the food chain.
