I set some writing career goals last month and I want to hold myself accountable to following through. I do this both for my own sake, but also for yours. I want you see how it looks and how it helps to set writing goals and then review and assess weekly.
1. I will complete the Wolf King’s e-book rough draft by May 31, 2010. I worked on this all weekend. Then on Monday, it ceased to be the Wolf King’s e-book. This prompted a change in voice which has had me rewriting all week. I have one more chapter to polish and I will push this e-book live on Monday.
New website…the whole shebang.
2. I will revamp tammikibler.com and flesh it out with content by June 15, 2010. I haven’t started on this yet because my efforts are focused on the e-book. Tammikibler.com will be my primary focus next week.
3. I will make daily cold calls each business day in June until I have at least three local clients. Yikes, I forgot about this one. I wonder why, hmm? Maybe because the thought of cold calls sucks something out of my gut that I need in order to breathe?
I have been fortunate in that I have been growing my contacts without making any cold calls this week. Someone contacted me on Tuesday about possible business. Wednesday, I learned a family friend is interested in collaborating on an online project. Yesterday, I made a proposal for collaboration to a graphic designer. So I am testing my proposal voice and learning how to ask for work.
I am glad I checked in with my goals before I got too deep into the month without progressing on this front. I am going to start a log to record a cold call/proposal/new working relationship each day and hold myself accountable.
4. I will have an info product for sale on this site by June 30, 2010. I am not sure what an info product for this site would look like. My mind is wide open, so if you have any ideas what you would like to see available (in keeping with the topics on this blog, of course) please comment below and I will consider it.
All this and a bag of chips.
Of course, I work to keep up with all of this and my client work and the blogs I maintain. I have a lot to do and little time for navel gazing.
If you haven’t yet, please take some time to set a few goals with dates on them and start holding yourself accountable. You may share them in the comments if you would like. This helps so much with the accountability piece. Not to mention it helps me feel a little less self-absorbed.

I really respect you throwing down dates you intend to hit with all your goals. It really is the best way to make things happen.
I wish you all the best, Tammi. I’m new to your blog, but reading through quite a few posts earlier today, you’re sharing some great stuff!
